چکیده

We investigate four variants of valence regulations incorporated in (limited) Lindenmayer systems, focussing on hierarchical relations and closure properties. Strong connections to well-known families of languages obtained by regulated rewriting are established. We prove several new results on valence transducers and valence generalized sequential machines (gsm). In this way, we can show new properties of ET0L languages, namely the non-closure under permutation, quasiinter-section, valence gsm mappings and intersection with regular valence languages. Moreover, we solve a question marked as open in 32] by proving that the uniformly k-limited ET0L languages form a full semi-AFL for all k 1.

Regulation by Valences

Valences are a very simple and yet powerful method of regulated rewriting. In this paper we give an overview on di erent aspects of this subject. We discuss closure properties of valence languages. It is shown that matrix grammars can be simulated by valence grammars over nite monoids. A Chomsky normal form theorem is proved for multiplicative valence grammars, thereby solving the open question...

Ageing Orders of Series-Parallel and Parallel-Series Systems with Independent Subsystems Consisting of Dependent Components

In this paper, we consider series-parallel and parallel-series systems with independent subsystems consisting of dependent homogeneous components whose joint lifetimes are modeled by an Archimedean copula. Then, by considering two such systems with different numbers of components within each subsystem, we establish hazard rate and reversed hazard rate orderings between the two system lifetimes,...

Static Task Allocation in Distributed Systems Using Parallel Genetic Algorithm

Over the past two decades, PC speeds have increased from a few instructions per second to several million instructions per second. The tremendous speed of today's networks as well as the increasing need for high-performance systems has made researchers interested in parallel and distributed computing. The rapid growth of distributed systems has led to a variety of problems. Task allocation is a...

A Multi Objective Optimization Model for Redundancy Allocation Problems in Series-Parallel Systems with Repairable Components

The main goal in this paper is to propose an optimization model for determining the structure of a series-parallel system. Regarding the previous studies in series-parallel systems, the main contribution of this study is to expand the redundancy allocation parallel to systems that have repairable components. The considered optimization model has two objectives: maximizing the system mean time t...
